The next few months are going to be interesting. Not only am I starting a whole new series of interesting and innovative experiments on my own I may actually be in a real, legit drug trial.
Drug trial you say? The dude who goes to great lengths not to take prescription medications (and especially not those nasty biologic drugs) volunteered to try an unproven, untested drug? Well wait up and hear me out. This isn’t your grand pappy’s drug trial.
It’s a ‘drug’ known as an SSI Vaccine and isn’t really a drug at all but rather a specific vaccine meant to target Crohn’s by STIMULATING the immune system. Stimulating!? What. Yes, stimulating. Sounds like some of those white coats may have finally caught on to the fact that at least some Crohn’s/Colitis/IBS/IBD cases are not just the body ‘getting confused’ and attacking the body. Well no kidding. I mostly jest as the people working on this drug are some of the best in the world and I am sure they have always been well aware of the situation. It’s extremely exciting that they are working on these new and very promising treatments that will provide a safer, less invasive and harmful alternative to the current line of life-saving but nasty pharma-specials.
There’s a catch, though.
I have to have a certain level of inflammation on my labs to be eligible. With everything I have been doing with my diet and supplements I am not sure I’ll qualify so my master plan is to go on a wicked gluten and sugar binge for a day or two before my blood tests, stay up all night and absolutely trash my muscles in the gym 24-48 hours prior to the blood work. If I time all that right my hope is that I can goose the test just enough to be eligible since that’s the only criteria I am worried about meeting.
So if anyone has any awesome ideas about how to make myself more inflamed before Friday that would be fantastic…
